The Wings Of Hope Team

Welcome to our Blog.
I would like to thank you for visiting our Wings Of Hope Blog.
For those of you that do not know me, my name is Pat LeBlanc. I am a 2 in half year breast cancer survivor.
Back in Setember of 2009 I decided to put a team together, to host a nightly fundraiser were all proceeds would go towards the Simonds -Sinon Regional Burbank Cancer Center. I feel it is very important to give to our local cancer centers. After thinking of a name for our team, I was able to come up with "Wings Of Hope"......
We organized our Fundraiser within 2 months & with the help of each team member we were able to raise $5,000.00 towards our goal. As a team we met monthly up until November were we held our event at the Franco American on Water St in Leom Ma.

It was a very successful evening. As a team we held 2 bake sales prior to the event and we raffled a beautiful Thanksgiving basket at my work place. We also had Perfect Endings Salon host a Cut A thon Day were all proceeds went towards our fundraiser. With that we also had a good friend who sells Tupperware do a promotion for the month of Nov were a percentage was to go towards our fundraiser. As a team we were able to go out & find over 60 donations for our raffle table that we had the night of the event. We also had a 50/50 draw that was won by a very kind man "Ray Ray" who donated the winnings back towards the fundraiser..
We sold Chicken Frico, Chilli, Steamed dogs that went very well. We had a Country Music band, that many of us enjoying hearing. The hall was decorated very beautiful also. We had litterature that I ordered for free from American Cancer society.. It was a great night for a great cause.. And I must say everything went perfect!! I truly believe that you can achieve anything you want in life.. You set your goals & with determination it is amazing how we can do what we want with these tools.

I cannot say enough about the staff at the Burbank hospital including Dr Toke who is my Oncology doctor at the Burbank. These people are amazing. I really believe it takes a special person to work in this kind of field. It cannot be easy seeing so many ill patients daily & bonding, to find out you've lost them.. So I have decided as long as I can do this, I will choose to help our local cancer center....

LOOKING FORWARD TO 2010...

We are going to start working on our plans for this years fundraiser. I am once again so excited!!!

I am hoping we can do one or two different functions and aim towards summer & very early fall....
I have a few different ideas that I want to share with the team. I'd like to see a walk involved this year, a yard sale, Maybe evan a little bike ride... Anything to raise money for the Cancer Center.
With the walk I would like to offer Wings of Hope Tee Shirts and get the hospital staff very much involved...

I also got a idea from what my aunts are doing in Canada, & that is saving pennies... Which will go towards there Tree of hope... So many different things to try... all to raise money for a great cause.

Thanks Diane & Shaheen.....This time here we will have more time to plan!!!

Wingers

My name is Diane Beaudoin and I am proud to be a 'Winger', and part of the cog to find a cure for cancer.
Our group is comprised of five working gals who are all deeply committed to our group for the work we do. Our last fundraiser was a screaming success, and although we are happy with our financial results, we are not going to rest on our laurels. Plans for the next event were already discussed immediately after the conclusion of our memmorable night.
We've all known someone touched by cancer, and our goal is to never have to hear anyone else say they were 'diagnosed' with the dreaded disease in any form.
During our first journey together, we were introduced to some wonderful people, so our circle continues to grow.
Pat is an inspirational leader, and each one of us is thankful to know her.
We will continue to move forward together in our efforts to raise money and awareness, and look forward to many more successful events.
